Marguerite Melo is a nationally recognized trial attorney with unmatched experience. After graduating from UC Berkeley with a double-major in rhetoric and legal studies, she attended Golden Gate University School of Law. While in law school, she was the co-founder of a successful computer software company in San Francisco.

Upon being sworn into the California Bar Association, Marguerite started practicing law in a small legal firm in San Francisco, handling cases of misappropriation of trade-secret litigation and conducting trials in this area of law. In order to further her trial expertise, she moved to the Central Valley to take a position with the Office of the District Attorney, County of Tulare. During her nearly 11 years at the Tulare County District Attorney's Office, she was assigned to handle every type of criminal case from misdemeanor thefts to capital murder. In her last assignment in that office, she reviewed and handled complex white collar matters and high-profile government corruption cases. She left Tulare County District Attorney's Office to take a position with the Kern County District Attorney's Office where she continued to conduct complex criminal trials. In 2007, Marguerite was appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to serve as a Special Assistant Inspector General in the Office of the Inspector General. In that appointed position, she conducted oversight and monitoring of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Specifically, she was responsible for contemporaneous monitoring of employment, civil rights, and criminal investigations and then publicly reporting the findings. In addition to her extensive trial experience, Marguerite was on the teaching faculty at the National Association of District Attorney's teaching college in Columbia, South Carolina.

Besides her attorney work experience, Marguerite was employed as a full-time peace officer for the State of California.
